A festival called `Guru Tsechu` is observed here, on the 9th and 10th days of the first month of Tibetan Lunar Calendar (February-March). The distinctiveness of the monastery lies in the fact that the monks of the Spituk monastery perform holy dances during the festival. Devotees come to watch the event in large numbers.
