A former Ross railway man and the president of the National Union of Railwaymen, Sir Frederick John Burrows was a trade unionist and administrator in India. He was a British politician who served for the shortest tenure from 19th February, 1946 to 14th March, 1947 as the Governor of Bengal. He was given the titles of the Knight Grand Commander of the Most Exalted Order of the Star of India (GCSI), and also Knight Grand Commander of the Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire (GCIE). Frederick Burrows was one of the few British administrators who voiced his opinion against the Partition of Bengal. He died at the age of 86 years in the year 1973.
