Filmfare Award for Best Cinematography is presented by Filmfare to the cinematographers who most appropriately photograph the scenes of a Hindi motion picture.

Filmfare Award for Best CinematographyThe Filmfare Award for Best Cinematography is awarded by Filmfare in its annual Filmfare Awards to the cinematographer (cameraman) who most appropriately shoots and captures the scenes for a Hindi film of the preceding year, with proper lighting effects.

The category was introduced in the awards in 1955, a year after their inception.

Prominent Records in Filmfare Award for Best Cinematography
Indian cinematographer Kamal Bose had won the Filmfare Award for Best Cinematography maximum number of times, having had clinched 5 awards, 3 of them consecutively from 1970 to 1972, also holding the record for most consecutive wins. Noted Indian cinematographers Radhu Karmakar and Jal Mistry have won the award 4 times each, while cinematographers Binod Pradhan and Santosh Sivan have won it thrice each. Noted cinematographers Ravi K. Chandran, Fali Mistry, Faredoon Irani, Krishnarao Vashirda, Jaywant Pathare, Govind Nihalani, V. K. Murthy and Manmohan Singh have each won the award 2 times, with Krishnarao Vashirda winning on two consecutive occasions (in 1964 and 1965).

Cinematographers Kamal Bose, Radhu Karmakar, Fali Mistry and Jaywant Pathare have been recognised with the award for their work in both categories of Black & White Cinematography and Colour Cinematography.

Filmfare Award for Best Cinematography at 61st Filmfare Awards
In the 61st Filmfare Awards of 2016, the Filmfare Award for Best Cinematography was presented to cinematographer Manu Anand, for his work in the 2015 romantic comedy film "Dum Laga Ke Haisha". Manu Anand had previously cinematographed another romantic comedy film "Shuddh Desi Romance" released in 2013.
