Located on the left bank of the Yeleru River, the Erravaram Caves are located at a distance of 45 km from Rajahmundry on Vishakhapatnam route. On the eastern side of the village is the hillock of Dhanala- dibba on which the Erravaram Caves are situated. Numerous excavations of this Buddhist site has revealed that the historic remains date back to 100 AD and the site had flourished from 1st century BC to 2nd century AD.
