Economy of Pali District, RajasthanEconomy of Pali district, though dependant on agriculture to quite an extent, is well known for its textile industries. Pali is located in a central part of Rajasthan. The district is well connected by Road and Railway Network. It is hardly 70 kms away from Jodhpur (second largest city of Rajasthan). Pali is well connected by rail via Jodhpur to the different cities of Northern India and via Marwar Junction (30 km away from Pali) to the different cities of South India. This easy connectivity has allowed industries to grow here.

Pali is famous for its textile industries. Cotton and synthetic clothes and yarn were exported to other states of India at a very cheap rate. Some new industries have also been developed, like marble cutting, finishing etc. One of the biggest composite textile mills of India, ` Maharaja Shri Umaid mills` (established in the year 1940) is also situated at Pali. The main production of this mill is cotton, Hank yarn etc. which is used for preparing different cloths. Main cloth production includes cotton, 2 into 2 rubia etc.

Besides this, many more industries are situated in different areas of the Pali district i.e. leather based industries, agriculture instruments, chemical based, cement industry, minerals based units like stone crashers etc.

Agriculture in the district of Pali is dependent on monsoon to a great extent. Though there are a number of irrigation dams in the district, yet more than 50 percent of the farmers are dependent on the monsoons. Most of the farmers obtain two crops i.e. Kharif and Rabi. Rabi crops are usually sown in November whereas Kharif crops are sown with the beginning of the first rains in July. Kharif crops include bajara, jowar, moong, rice, groundnut, red chillies etc.
