Districts of Presidency Division include the Howrah district, Kolkata district, Nadia district, North 24 Parganas district and South 24 Parganas District.
Howrah District
Howrah district is a district of the West Bengal state in eastern India. It has thousands of years of rich heritage in the form of the great Bengali kingdom of Bhurshut. The district is named after its headquarters, the city of Howrah. Howrah is the industrially developed city in east India.
Kolkata District
Kolkata district is an administrative district of the Indian state of West Bengal. It contains the centre part of the city of Kolkata. The jurisdiction of the Kolkata Collector, that is, of the district, is within the areas covered by the Kolkata Police and by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, but it does not cover the entire area covered by either of them. According to the Population Census in the year 2011, Kolkata district has a population of 4,486,679. The district has a population density of 24,252 inhabitants per square kilometer.
Nadia District
Nadia district is a district of the state of West Bengal, in eastern India. It borders Bangladesh to the east, North 24 Parganas District and Hooghly district to the south, Bardhaman District to the west, and Murshidabad District to the north.
North 24 Parganas District
North 24 Parganas district is a district in southern West Bengal, of eastern India. North 24 Parganas extends from latitude 22 degree 11 minutes 6 seconds north to 23 degree 15 minutes 2 second north and from longitude 88 degree 20 minutes east to 89 degree 5 minutes east. North 24 Parganas district is bordered to Nadia by north, to Bangladesh (Khulna Division) by north and east, to South 24 Parganas and Kolkata by south and to Kolkata, Howrah and Hooghly by west. Barasat is the district headquarters of North 24 Parganas District. North 24 Parganas district is West Bengal`s most populous district and (following the splitting of the Thane district of Maharashtra in 2014) the most populated district in the whole of India. It is also the tenth-largest district in the State by area.
South 24 Parganas District
South 24 Parganas District is a district of West Bengal. It is headquartered in Alipore. It is the largest district of West Bengal by area and second largest by population. On one side it has the urban fringe of Kolkata and on the other, the remote riverine villages in the Sundarbans National Park and Sundarbans Mangrove Forest in India.
