Districts of Kolhan Division include districts like East Singhbhum District, Seraikela-Kharsawan district, and West Singhbhum District. East Singhbhum District
East Singhbhum District is one of the twenty-four districts of Jharkhand. It was created on 16th January 1990 .The word Singhbhum is derived from Bengali words `singha` which means "lion" and `bhumi` meaning "land", together meaning "The Land Of Lions". Dense forests and mountains cover more than 50% of the district, where wild animals once roamed freely. This district serves as weekend destinations like Ghatshila, Narwa Forests and the Burudih Lake. Ghatshila is about 240 km from West Bengal and well connected by road and train. Ratmohona, Galudih Dam, Gourikunja are the popular spots here. Tatanagar and Ranchi are easily connected by rails.
Seraikela-Kharsawan District
Seraikela-Kharsawan district or Saraikella and Kharaswan district, which is known as the Princely State of Seraikella in colonial era is one of the twenty-four districts of Jharkhand state in eastern India. Seraikela town is the district headquarters of Saraikela Kharsawan district. Seraikela-Kharsawan district is well known for Seraikela Chhau, one of the three distinctive styles of the Chhau Dance. This district was carved out from West Singhbhum district in 2001.
West Singhbhum District
West Singhbhum District is one of the 24 districts of Jharkhand. It came into being in 1990, when the old Singhbhum district was bifurcated. Chaibasa is the district headquarters. The district is bounded on north by Khunti district, on the east by Saraikela Kharsawan district, on the south by Keonjhar District, Mayurbhanj District and Sundergarh district of Odisha and on the west by Simdega district of Jharkhand and Sundergarh district of Odisha.
