Dilaram

Dilaram, located in Kurseong is an interesting tourist locale which consists of beautiful forests and mountains.

Dilaram is a beautiful, little village which is based in Kurseong Hills, in the Eastern Indian state of West Bengal. Situated at an altitude ranging from 1200 meters to 1770 meters on the banks of the Rinchengtong River, the area offers the tourists a rare opportunity to play in its crystal clear waters against the breathtaking backdrop of snow-clad Kanchenjunga mountains.

Dilaram is a uniquely interesting tourist spot with lots of tourist attractions. Located near Dilaram, there exists an ancient temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and possesses a stone carving of Rimpoche, a Buddhist Guru. Situated about 10 km from Dilaram, the Bhanzang Lake offers a magnificent sight and is home to the Himalayan Salamander. The lake is overlapped by a vast expanse of forests and tea gardens. The orange village of Sitong, Bagora, Chimeny, and forests of Chatakpur are worth visiting if one decides to tour Dilaram.

One will be greeted by forests of chestnut, cardamom and magnolia trees. Visitors might also opt to go for trekking activities to the Chatakpur View Point and this trek would include enjoyable journeys through cryptomere forests and hamlets. Visitors would be thrilled to notice picturesque views of Mount Kanchenjunga and its adjoining hills, from the Chatakpur View Point.

Visiting Information
Dilaram is located about 45 km from Siliguri and 8 km from the hill station of Kurseong. A care can also be hired from Bagdogra, New Jalpaiguri and Siliguri. One can also use local taxis in order to travel form Darjeeling to Dilaram. Winter is the perfect time to visit Dilaram since the Sandakphu Hills are covered by thick blankets of snow and tourists can feast their eyes on this marvellous sight. Besides winter, monsoons are another time to visit this wonderful place. Dilaram dons a romantic appearance, particularly during the monsoons when the hills of Darjeeling are carpeted with lush greenery.
