Strategically located in the eastern part of Kheri, it is equidistant from the two important cities - Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh and Shahjahanpur,an important industrial townof Uttar Pradesh.

On the east of Dhaurehra is Lakhimpur, the seat of administration of Kheri district. Dhaurehra is well connected by rail and airways with nearby towns and the rest of the town. Lakhimpur Railway Station and Amausi Airport are the nearest railway station and airport.

According to the 2001 census report, Dhaurehra had a population of 18,882 inhabitants. Males constitute 53% of the population and females constitute 47% of the population. In Dhaurehra, 19% of the population is less than six years of age. The average literacy rate of Dhaurehra is 28%. It is much lower in comparison to the national average literacy rate, which is 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 34% while the female literacy rate is even lower than that at 21%.

Dhaurehra is worth visiting for its nearby attractions. The Frog Temple at Oyal, is an attraction in the vicinity the base of which is built in the shape of a frog. It is a stone temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Dudhwa National Park, renowned for the Barasingha or the swamp deer and the Katarniaghat Sanctuary are ideal tourist destinations.
