Dasna

Dasna is a nagar Panchayat in the Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh.

Dasna is a small town in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh .It is situated 24 Km. west of Hapur. It is located 10 km. east of the district headquarters of Ghaziabad. The word Dasna is a Sanskrit word which means snake bite.

This town is well connected by air road and railways. National Highway 24 passes near Dasna and the nearest airport is the New Delhi airport. The Dasna Railway Station is situated on the Ghaziabad Moradabad branch line of the Northern Railways. It is located between 28.68° North latitude and 77.53° East longitude. The topography of the place is 207 metres (679 feet) above mean sea level.

It is believed that Salarsi, a Rajput king came here to bathe in the Ganges in order to get rid of his leprosy .He liked this place so much that he built a fort here and founded the town of Dasna.

According to the 2001 census report, Dasna has a population of about 24,428 where males constitute 54% of the population and females 46% of the population. 22% of the population is less than six years of age. This town has an average literacy rate of 45%, which is lower than that of the national literacy rate, which is 59.5%. The literacy rate of the male is 56% while that of the female population is 32%.
