Birwadi Fort, MaharashtraBirwadi Fort is a hill fortress located in the village of Birwadi in Raigad district of Maharashtra. This fort has a height of 1200 feet above sea level and appears like a small hillock from a distance.

History of Birwadi Fort
In 1648, the Birwadi Fort was built by Shivaji Maharaj, along with Lingana fort, after capturing Kalyan. This fort was used to keep a watch on the Revdanda creek and to check the activities of Siddhi.

Structure of Birwadi Fort
The Birwadi Fort had four corner bastions. The main gate of the fort is in good condition. There are many stone cut water cisterns on the fort. There were also two cannons in the fort premises that are now moved to the temple at the base of the fort.

Visiting Information of Birwadi Fort
Birwadi Fort is connected by road to the village Chanera. State buses and rickshaws are available to reach Chanera from Roha. The way to the fort is pleasing with rice-fields and dense pockets of the jungle around. There is a trek to the fort from the village. It takes about 45 minutes to reach the top of the fort from Birwadi village.
