Positioned at the northern tip of Kerala, Bekal offers a exciting beach holiday destination for its tourists. The Bekal Fort is another popular attraction that enhances the beauty of the beach. The Fort appears to rise from the edges of the sea. The external part of the fort remains almost drenched with the citadel being stroked by the waves. There is also a Mosque established by Tipu Sultan and a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman located nearby. Regarded as the largest fort in Kerala, Bekal Fort is well fortified by zigzag entrance and the trenches. Sprawling over forty acres the fort has a tank with its flight of steps, the opening of the tunnel towards the South, the magazine for keeping ammunition and the broad and wide steps that leads to the Observation Tower. One can also see nearby places from the top of the fort.

A kid`s park has also been established close to the Bekal beach. Small children visiting the beach can also enjoy themselves playing in the park. Tourists visiting the beach can also go for an hour and half trekking and enjoy the sight of the multicoloured fishing boats lined on the beach. The Uduma fishing village is a cluster of houses along the beach and life of the sparsely populated fishing village is on display. Tourists can also get an insight on the life of the fishing folks of Kerala.

Bekal Beach is easily accessible by rial, road and air. The Mangalore airport is located fifty kilometers off the Bekal beach. Hence, those willing to travel by air can take this mode of transportation. Besides, Kasargod is also well connected by road. There are ample guesthouses and hotels located close to Bekal beach. The ideal time to visit the bekal Beach is during the months August to March, just before the monsoons.
