Annu Kapoor, Bollywood Actor Annu Kapur was born in Bhopal on 20th February 1945. He is the second son of a Punjabi father and Bengali mother. As a brilliant academician, Annu Kapur aimed to be surgeon but at the age of sixteen, he joined his father`s mobile folk theatre company to support the family. He has traveled all over North India, performing the classics like Raja Harishchandra, Laila Majnu, Krishna-Avtar which help him to be a master in theatre acting and in music.

Film Career of Annu Kapoor
At his twenties Annu Kapoor joined National School of Drama on his elder brother`s encouragement. He exposed to the drama of Isben, Bretch, Vijay Tendulkar, and Badal Sircar. His first theatrical break was `Ek Ruka Hua Faisla`, where at the age of twenty-four he played the role of eighty. Then in 1982 he came to Mumbai in the search of a job in film Industry. His first job was a dubbing for a captain in the film `Gandhi`. He managed himself with the small roles like in the films, Betaab, Mrinal Sen`s Khandhar, Girish Kannad`s Utsav, Shyam Benegal`s Mandi and Susman, his versatility made him director`s actor. His other several films were `Aitraaz`, `Hum Kisise Kum Nahi`, `Muskuharat`, `Arjun Pandit`, `Hum`, `Chaalbaaz,` `KachcheDhage`, `Darr`, `Tezaab`, `Mashal`, and many more. He was critically acclaimed for his role in `Rain Coat`, 2004. He made his directorial debut, with his film `Abhaya` which won National award for best children film1994. Apart from movies Annu is best remembered for hosting the singing reality show Antakshari which ran from 1993 to 2006on Zee TV. He also acted as Kabir in a DD serial by the same name.
