Andhri, also known as Parampara Series - Andhri, is a national festival celebrating the vibrant musical and dancing traditions of India. Held in the city of Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, the festival is organized by Raja and Radha Reddy, the well known Kuchipudi dancers. This annual festival lasts for three days and is organized at Ravindra Bharathi auditorium in the month of November. Renowned artists from Hindustani and Carnatic musical genres perform at Andhri.
History of Andhri
The year 2007 marks the inception of Andhri. The nomenclature of the festival is enrooted in the events of ancient times. The raaga characteristics of a madhyama graama janya jati (or Andhra jati), known as Andhri, had been described by Bharata Muni centuries ago. He had also mentioned the dancing styles of this region in Natya Sastra. Andhra`s raasa nrityam was believed to be performed on the music of this Andhra Jati who currently resides in present day Kalyani. Thus Andhri raaga was contributed to the Indian classical music by Andhra jati. Thus the festival was given the title Andhri.

Natya Tarangini, Raja Radha Reddy Institute of Kuchipudi Dance has been greatly enriching and promoting the culture of Indian dance and music through this festival. Famed artists including Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Madurai TN Seshagopalan, Ashwini Bhide, Dr. Neena Prasad, Yamini Reddy, Parveen Sultana, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Hariharan, Bikram Ghosh and many others have graced the festival with their exquisite renditions in its different editions.
