A Hallway of Doors, Mysore PalaceA Hallway of Doors is one of the most splendorous work of art in Mysore Palace. The ancient shrines in Mysore Palace of Karnataka are dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It is said that when the fire broke out and destroyed the wooden furniture, the Lord Ganesha saved the royal furniture.

Mysore Palace in the year 1897, this shrine was not affected and remained intact. Later the British government constructed the Mysore Palace.

It has been integrated into the reconstructed Mysore Palace and entered through a beautiful rosewood doorway with ivory inlay work from the corridor linking the main Durbar Hall with Amba Vilas Palace that is the Mysore Palace.

There is also a separate entrance from the car passage through a spiral staircase. The image of Lord Ganesha, according to tradition, is made of stucco and consisting of 450 Saligramas (Sacred Black Stones). It was brought from 300 sacred Kshetras. The majestic huge Lord Ganesha is painted and is still under worship by the authority of Mysore Palace. It`s still used by the descendants of the royal Woodyer Dynasty.
