9th Khanda of Chapter Four
9th Khanda of Chapter Four of Chandogya Upanishad states about the instruction by the teacher to Satyakama.
Chandogya Upanishad, one of the oldest Upanishad has been written during the Vedic Brahmana period. Chandogya Upanishad is associated with Sama Veda. Chandogya Upanishad is the part of Chandogya Brahaman that contains ten chapters. The 9th Khanda of Chapter Four of Chandogya Upanishad states about the instruction by the teacher. The diver bird told Satyakama that a teacher will declare to him another foot of the Brahman. On the morrow the cowherd turned towards his tutor with the cattle. When night arrived he lighted a fire, folded the cattle, placed fuel on the fire, and sat behind it facing the east. Satyakama reached the teacher`s house. The later upon seeing him stated that he shone like a knower of Brahman. He told him that he had been taught by many excepting men, but he wished to learn from the teacher. Satyakama said that he was aware that one can derive the best knowledge a teacher and it leads to the highest goal. His teacher, Gautama then taught him about the Supreme Brahman.
