The Barkur Fort is located in Barkur, Udupi District of Karnataka. The fort is spread across 20 acres of land. Inside the fort there are ruins of Alupas and Vijayanagara kingdoms. There are pillars, which were used to tie horses and elephants to form the part of the army. This fort was excavated several years ago by the Archaeological Survey of India. The site has now been turned into an excursion spot.
