People of Dha Hanu Valley
The Drokpa is a Dardic community residing in the Dha Hanu Valley in Ladakh. The Dards of Dha Hanu are nominally Buddhist but also worship their own Pantheon of Gods. They have an Indo-European appearance in contrast to the predominant Tibeto-Mongol inhabitants of Ladakh. They are believed to be the descendent of pure Aryan race, migrated to this area via Gilgit around 1000 year ago from Central Asia.
Visiting Information of Dha Hanu Valley
The nearest airport is at Leh around 170 km and the nearest railhead is situated in Jammu. Bus service is not operational, but one can hire taxis from the Leh airport to reach the Dha Hanu Valley.
