Chandogya Upanishad is associated with Sama Veda. It is the part of Chandogya Brahaman that contains eight chapters. The 7th Khanda of Second Chapter of Chandogya Upanishad states about the meditation on the Fivefold Saman as the senses. According to it one must meditate on the fivefold Saman that is the best as the pranas. Here the smell is the syllable Him, the speech i.e. the tongue is the Prastava, the sight i.e. the eye is the Udgitha, the hearing i.e. the ear is the Pratihara and the mind is the Nidhana. Each of them is greater than the previous one. One who is aware of this and realises this conquers the best worlds and all the best objects belong to him. One must meditate on the fivefold Saman, that is the most excellent.
