Ramesh Thilak is an Indian film actor and former radio jockey, who has appeared in supporting roles in Tamil and Malayalam films. He made his breakthrough with Nalan Kumarasamy"s 2013 Tamil black comedy "Soodhu Kavvum", where he portrayed a kidnapper and later played a similar role of a thief in Alphonse Putharen"s bilingual black comedy thriller film "Neram". He played his first lead role in the 2015 comedy "Orange Mittai", alongside Vijay Sethupathi who was also the producer of the film. It received positive reviews from critics and was screened at the 20th Busan International Film Festival. Ramesh worked as a radio jockey with Suryan FM 93.5 and has also appeared in short films such as "Mugaputhagam".

Career of Ramesh Thilak
Born on May 3, 1985 in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Ramesh Thilak started his career as a radio jockey, with radio channel Suryan FM 93.5 where he was credited as "Thillu Mullu" Ramesh in a reference to his jovial attitude on air. He then simultaneously worked on his first acting assignment, featuring in the character of Azhagesan alias Al Gates in STAR Vijay`s college drama soap "Kana Kaanum Kaalangal". In 2011, he was seen in an uncredited role in the Ajith Kumar-starrer and Venkat Prabhu-directed "Mankatha", which was an outright blockbuster. He was next seen in another minor role of protagonist Saravanan"s friend in the romantic action comedy "Mappillai", featuring Dhanush, and a courier delivery boy in 2012 Tamil film "Marina", directed by Pandiraj and featuring debutant Sivakarthikeyan.

Ramesh Thilak made his breakthrough in films in 2013, with Nalan Kumarasamy`s black comedy venture "Soodhu Kavvum", portraying a kidnapper Sekhar. The film received a positive response from critics while also becoming a commercial success. The same year, he played a similar role of a thief Lighthouse in debutant director Alphonse Putharen`s Tamil-Malayalam bilingual black comedy thriller "Neram". Both the versions of the film received positive reviews upon release and were successful at the box-office. Ramesh then featured in another bilingual film, a romantic comedy titled "Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram" in Malayalam and "Vaayai Moodi Pesavum" in Tamil. Both the versions got released in April 2014 and praised by critics. He was next seen in Don Sandy"s Tamil crime film "Mahabalipuram", as Kuppan. The film released in March 2015 to average reviews. The same month, he made a guest appearance in Malayalam comedy thriller road film "Oru Vadakkan Selfie". He also appeared as Vimal in Tamil horror film "Demonte Colony", alongside Arulnithi who featured in the lead role. The film received positive reviews and opened at the number one position at the Chennai box office, closing with a total gross of Rs.27 crores at the box office. He portrayed Naina in the Dhanush-Vetrimaaran joint production "Kaaka Muttai", a comedy drama that revolved around two slum children of Chennai, who desire to taste a pizza. The film had its world premiere on September 5, 2014 at the 39th Toronto International Film Festival, and was released worldwide on June 5, 2015, to widespread acclaim for its story and cast performances. It went on to win 2 National Film Awards - Best Children`s Film and Best Child Artist awarded to child actors portraying the protagonist characters.

Ramesh signed on to play his first lead role in Vijay Sethupathi`s maiden production "Orange Mittai". A comedy film, it released in July 2015 to positive critical reception and was screened at the 20th Busan International Film Festival. He was seen in a small role of the phony witness in Ajith Kumar-starrer action flick "Vedalam", and also in the role of cab driver in 2016 films "Aarathu Sinam" and "Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum". He later featured in comedy drama "Oru Naal Koothu", where he reprised his real life role of a radio jockey, portraying RJ Sathish alongside actors Dinesh, Mia George and Nivetha Pethuraj in the lead. He has recently been seen in Rajinikanth"s magnum opus "Kabali". His upcoming projects include the action film "Mellisai", featuring Vijay Sethupathi, currently in post-production and a horror comedy "Mo", which has been described as a “fun entertainer” that will have a “ghost factor” and was revealed to be complete by January 2016. Ramesh will be seen in the lead in the latter, alongside Suresh Ravi and Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead.
