Indrani Dasgupta is of Bengali origin, born and raised in Muscat. She was born on 7th May 1983. She did her schooling from Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram. She obtained her Honours Degree in B.A. Economics from Miranda House, University of Delhi and Masters Degree in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2004.

Indrani Dasgupta"s tryst with modeling happened when she was still preparing herself to be a lawyer at the age of 18 years. Back then while studying at Miranda House, she was noticed and offered by designer Ashish Soni to walk ramp for his clothing line. This marked the beginning of her modeling career. She continued her studies and in between appeared for several advertisements and walked ramp for varied designers. She has taken part in many fashion events for designers like J.J.Vallaya, Ritu Kumar and Rocky S. She has also been a part of the prestigious Lakme India Fashion Shows and worked with other famous designers as well.
Indrani Dasgupta was the brand ambassador of prestigious brands like "Lakme" and "Allen Solly" women"s garments. She has worked in five Lakme India Fashion Weeks, Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week, Blenders Pride Fashion Week etc. She has appeared in TV ad campaigns and print commercials for Airtel, LG, Parachute Oil, Panasonic and Santro. She has also worked in music videos like rock band "Euphoria"s" number "Kaise Bhoolegi Mera Naam" from the album "Phir Dhoom" in the year 2000. Apart from these, she has co-hosted TV travel show titled "What"s With Indian Men?" along with actress Sugandha Garg, on Fox Traveller Channel; in the year 2011.
