![]() Location of Kajrat Karjat is a small city, a municipal council, a Tahsil and a sub-district in Raigad district of Mumbai in Maharashtra. Karjat is located at 18.91degree north to 73.33 degree east. Geography of Kajrat Kajrat is located on Bhor Ghat of Sahyadri in the Western Ghats Mountain Range in India as well as at the end of coastal plains of Konkan Coastal region near Deccan Mountain Range. It has an average elevation of 194 metres (636 ft). It lies on the banks of the Ulhas River. ![]() According to the Population Census in the year 2011, Kajrat had a population of 2, 17,363. Education of Kajrat Karjat has engineering, pharmacy, medical, management, advertising, hospitality colleges and also a Mass Media Advertising Institutes (AICAR) affiliated to the AICTE and University of Mumbai, Maharashtra and also a few other graduation colleges and Oxford Schools. Tourism in Kajrat Kajrat is a place where tourism, adventure sports, higher education, film shooting, retailing, nurseries and the plantation and spa hospitality are the main occupations. Karjat is a preferred spot for weekend holidays, picnics, river rafting, trekking, hiking, and mountain climbing. It is a favoured destination during rainy season. It has several tourist attractions including Palasdari, Matheran, Khandala, Bhimashankar, Malshej Ghat, Lonavla. Many farm houses and residential colonies are situated here with all civil amenities and a municipal corporation. This place is also important for shooting also. Nitin Chandrakant Desai's ND Studioss was established in 2005. It is a major stopover attraction for Karjat tourists and films are shot here. Karjat is also a trekking destination. It offers plenty of trails, ranging from medium to very demanding. The undulating hilly terrain and lofty slopes make it an ideal spot for trekking enthusiasts. The three prominent trekking trails lead to Matheran via Rambagh point, Peth Fort, and Chanderi Fort. Other tourist attractions in this region are Ulhas River, Bhor Ghat, Kondana Caves, Peth Fort and many other spots. |
