Early Life of Cyrus Sahukar Cyrus Sahukar was born on 6th August 1980 in the military headquarters of MHOW in Indore. His mother, Nimeran Sahukar, is Punjabi and a writer by profession whereas his father Colonel Behram Sahukar is Parsi. His elder sister Preeti Philip is an artist. Cyrus Sahukar did his schooling from St Columba’s school, Delhi. Since his school days he was involved in theatres and acted in a number of school plays since the tender age of 6. He was also a vocalist in his school band. At the age of 14 he became a part of Literacy Mission Program under which the school students used to perform plays and educational skits for the inmates of Tihar Jail. At the same time he also acted in a play for Barry John’s Red Noses Club under the direction of Barry John. The play was titled as Haroun and the Sea of Stories and was based on a novel authored by Salman Rushdie. Career of Cyrus Sahukar Cyrus Sahukar began his career in the entertainment world at an early age. At 15, he performed in a musical show titled Thank You for the Music under the direction of Stephen Marazzi. It was the first professional endeavour of Cyrus as a singer. Following this, he joined Roshan Abbas and got involved in radio voiceovers and jingles. He recorded his first jingle for Harpic. He began hosting a radio show known as Radio Rampage in Delhi at the age of 16. During this time he also worked as an actor and also with the production team of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Starlight Express’ and ‘Graffiti Postcards’ from School. Both the plays were directed by Roshan Abbas. At the age of 18 he attended an audition in a nationwide search for MTV India called ‘MTV VJ Hunt’. He won the VJ Hunt along with Asif Seth and Mini Mathur. By the end of 1999 Cyrus Sahukar joined MTV and shifted from Delhi to Mumbai. There he became one of the youngest persons to work for MTV. He fronted a show titled MTV Fully Faltoo in the following year 2000. The show was one of the very first shows to spoof on everything starting from movies, to television shows, to ad films and others. The prominent ones on which the show focussed included Indiana Jones Series, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and Sholay. Other similar shows in which he performed included Piddhu The Great and Semi Girebaal which were spoofs on Navjot Singh Sidhu and Rendezvous with Simi Garewal. He also anchored the show Kickass Mornings in which he portrayed 25 different characters. He also hosted two seasons of the game shows Hole in the Wall and All Stars both broadcasted on Pogo channel. Cyrus Sahukar has also acted in a few Bollywood flicks including Bombay Talkies, Love Breakups Zindagi, Aisha, Delhi 6, Rang De Basanti and Om Jai Jagadish. |
