Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary is also known as "Green Oasis". The oasis is located in the easternmost part of Maharashtra. The Green Oasis has great importance to conserve the bio-diversity elements. This sanctuary is locked in the arms of nature and adorned with charming landscapes, abundant plant life and serves as gift to explore and appreciate nature. Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary is indeed the priceless asset of nature and beckons one and all to enjoy its picturesque landscape, its scenic beauty and the fresh air.
Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary has an ample number of aquatic lives along with thirty four species of mammals, 166 species of birds, four species of amphibians and 36 species of reptiles. The trees found in Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary include Ain Tree, Dhavda Tree, Bija Tree, Garari Tree, Tinsa Tree, Tendu Tree, Surya Tree, Teak Tree and Bamboo Tree. Beside this, there are huge numbers of animals commonly spotted. These are Royal Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Panthers, Bisons, Sloth Bears, Sambar, Four-Headed Antelope, Civet Cats, Barking Deer, Blue Bull, Chital, Mouse Deer, Jackals, Jungle Cats, Spotted Hyena, and hare. Among the avifauna, prominent and commonly seen are Peafowl, Grey Jungle Fowl and the Red Spur Fowl. Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary not only offers the wide array of flora and fauna, but also, it is close to Navegaon National Park (Madhya Pradesh), Itiadoh Dam, Tibetan Camp at Gothangaon and Pratapgadh.
Nagzira wildlife Sanctuary is situated only 22 kilometres away from Sakoli on the National Highway No. 6 (Mumbai-Kolkata) which passes through Sakoli. Nagzira wildlife Sanctuary is situated at the distance of about 60 km from District Headquater Gondia and 60 km. away from District Head Office Bhandara. The nearest railway stations are Gondia, Bhandara Road (50 km), Soundad (20 km), Tirora (20 km). The nearest airport is Nagpur, which is 120 kilometres from Nagzira wildlife Sanctuary.
