![]() Early Life of Vishal-Shekhar Vishal Dadlani is also a part of the renowned Mumbai-based electronic band named Pentagram in which he is the vocalist. Shekhar Ravjiani has received formal training in Indian classical music from Ustad Niaz Ahmed Khan. He is also a trained accordion player and has learnt this skill from his father Hasmukh Ravjiani. In 1997, Shekhar had participated in Zee TV singing contest Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. ![]() Vishal-Shekhar made their debut in Hindi film industry in the year 1999 with the film Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi. Subsequently they composed the music for the films Kaante and Supari which could not provide them any significant recognition. The duo however shot to fame by composing the score for the 2003 film Jhankaar Beats. The song 'Tu Aashiqui Hai' from the movie became much popular. The film also earned them a Filmfare Award. They created an exquisite combination of Indian sounds and techno music for the film Musafir. The songs 'Door Se Paas' and 'Saaki' won them further acclamation. In the year 2005 they worked as a music director for three films namely Bluffmaster, Dus and Salaam Namaste. Both Vishal and Shekhar have also rendered their voice to many of their compositions. The popular song 'Allah Ke Bande' from the film Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II, sung by Kailash Kher, was also composed by them. Vishal Dadlani even composed the song 'Minds Without Fear' in collaboration with Imogen Heap for an episode of The Dewarists. Other popular films for which the duo has composed music include Golmaal, Ta Ra Rum Pum, Om Shanti Om, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Break Ke Baad, The Dirty Picture, Student Of The Year, Chennai Express, Hasee Toh Phasee and many more. ![]() Apart from music direction in films, Vishal-Shekhar have also appeared on the singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 as judges. They have also judged the musical talent show Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star along with Farah Khan and Amul Star Voice Of India Mummy Ki Superstars. For one of the editions of Zee TV reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa they have also worked as mentors and judges along with Sajid-Wajid. Vishal-Shekhar have also composed the title track for television serials Navya and Piya Re Bhavri, aired on Star Plus. IPL theme song of season 3 and the anthem of Kolkata Knight Riders have also been created by the duo. In January 2012 Vishal-Shekhar performed at the Spring Fest of IIT Kharagpur and at Saarang in IIT Madras. In the February of the same year the duo performed at Crossroads 2012 in SRCC while in March they performed live at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University in Flare (Techno-Cultural Fest) along with Shruti Pathak. The IPL 6 anthem 'Jumping Japaang' was also composed by them. In November 2013 they rendered live performance at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani - Goa Campus, along with Priyanka Chopra. In the Bollywood flick Om Shanti Om, the duo appeared in a cameo role. Vishal Dadlani, after the terror attacks on Mumbai on 26th November 2008 launched a petition for banning the live coverage of rescue operations. Achievements of Vishal-Shekhar In the year 2004, Vishal-Shekhar won Filmfare RD Burman Award for movie 'Jhankaar Beats'. They also won Mirchi Music Award for Mirchi Listener Album of the Year in 2012 for the film 'Student of the Year'.
