Manu Rishi, also known as Manu Rishi Chadha, is an Indian actor who has appeared primarily in Bollywood. Apart from acting he has also worked as a lyricist, dialogue and script writer. For about six years Manu Rishi has received training under the well known theatre director Arvind Gaur. He stepped into the entertainment world with theatres.
Theatre Career of Manu Rishi
He began his acting career with the Asmita theatre group in Delhi. As a thespian he has acted in a number of plays. He performed in over 40 plays along with the director Arvind Gaur. His noted plays include Eugene O'Neill's Desire under the Elms, Dario Fo's Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Dharamvir Bharati's Andha Yug, William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar (play), Swadesh Deepak's Court Martial, Mahesh Dattani's Final Solutions and Girish Karnad's Rakt Kalyan.
Film Career of Manu Rishi
In the year 2001 Manu Rishi moved to Mumbai and made his cinematic debut in Bollywood with the film Saathiya. This was followed by his appearance in a number of other films including Raghu Romeo, Mixed Doubles, Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, Mithya, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, Phas Gaye Re Obama, Band Baaja Baraat, Soundtrack, Ekk Deewana Tha and What the Fish. He has also worked as a lyricist for the movie Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! As a dialogue writer his films enlist Ekk Deewana Tha, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, Chance Pe Dance and Aisha.
Achievements of Manu Rishi
In the year 2009, Manu Rishi won the Filmfare Best Dialogue Award and the IIFA Best Dialogue Award, both for the movie Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!
