The city and municipal board of Dadri is situated in the Gautam Buddha Nagar District in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. The precise geographical location of the town is at
28.57° N and 77.55° E. It has an average elevation of 201 meters (659 feet) above sea level. Dadri harbors one of the power plants of the national thermal power corporation.
The India census of 2001 unveils that Dadri has a population of 57,457 with 54% males, 46% females and 18% children less than 6 years of age. On an average, there are 62% literate males and 46% literate females. The average literacy rate of 54% is lower than the national average of 59.5. The town has considerable historical significance because it played a major role in the battle of freedom in 1857, when its Gurjar ruler "Rao Umrao Singh Bhati" rose against the British rule.
