6th Khanda of Chapter Three
6th Khanda of Chapter Three of the Chandogya Upanishad states about the meditation on the Vasus.
Chandogya Upanishad is the part of Chandogya Brahaman and is associated with Sama Veda. It is ranked ninth in the Muktika canon of hundred and eight Upanishadas. The Chandogya Upanishad depicts the importance and greatness of universal holy syllable `Om Mantra` and the significance of vital life force or `Prana`. Chandogya Upanishad contains ten chapters. The 6th Khanda of Chapter Three of the Chandogya Upanishad states about the meditation on the Vasus. The Vasus live on the first of these nectars with Agni (fire) at their head. The gods or the Devas do not eat nor drink, they only gratify themselves by the sight of the nectar. They withdraw into that red colour and rise up from that colour. One who is aware of this and realises the nectar becomes one of the Vasus with Agni (fire) at their head. He becomes contended by reflecting on the nectar. He retires into that red colour and again rises up from that colour. He also obtains the complete dominion of the Vasus which extends from the rising of the sun in the east to its setting in the west. As long as he likes the Vasus, he enjoys rulership and sovereignty.
