Museums in South Goa DistrictMuseums in South Goa district comprise the various storehouses which boast of numerous artefacts of historical and aesthetic significance. Museum of Christian Art
Established in the year 1994, the Museum of Christian Art, this structure was known to be amongst the several museums which displayed specimens of beautiful Christian art in the continent of Asia. It was erected by the Archdiocese of Goa, with the financial aide of Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), New Delhi and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Portugal. Different kinds of precious metals, paintings, textiles, ivory, sculptures, furniture and much more are available here.

Naval Aviation Museum
The Naval Aviation Museum is situated in the area of Bogmala, at a distance of nearly 6 kms from Vasco da Gama. Articles exhibited include the objects which portray the development and growth of Indian Naval Air Arm, over many centuries. It was formally inaugurated in October 1998 and is one amongst the two Military Aviation Museums in the country. Visitors will notice two parts of this museum, an indoor two-storeyed art gallery and an outdoor exhibit.

Big Foot Art Gallery
This museum is based about 20 kms away from Margao, and is known as `Big Foot`. It attracts innumerable historians and visitors, especially since it is India`s first open-air museum, occupying an area measuring 9 acres. The articles exhibited here reflect the cultural traditions of the rural portion of Goa, which dates back to about 200 years. Life-size sculptures are displayed in this famous museum which involve India`s longest laterite sculpture namely that of Sant Mirabai which measures 14 metres by 5 metres and accomplished in 30 days. Terracotta toys, bamboo and cane artefacts and clay items are amongst the many objects found here.
