Beverages of the city include tea and buttermilk. Sweet dishes of Ahmedabad are also popular among which laddoos are greatly cherished.
Festivals of Ahmedabad
Uttarayan is one of the most significant celebrations of Ahmedabad. It is an annual festival of kite-flying which is observed every year on 14th of January. Navaratri is another festival observed in this region, where Garba, the folk dance of Gujarat, forms the main attraction. Different venues throughout the city arrange Garba for nine nights during this festival. Spectacular lightening up of the city can be seen during Diwali and bursting of crackers and embellishing the floors with enchanting Rangolis fills the city ambience. Ratha Yatra is also organized in Ahmedabad. During the Muslim holy month of Muharram the procession of Tajia is arranged. Other festivals which are celebrated with great enthusiasm are Christmas, Eid-ul-Fitr, Gudi Padwa, Ganesh Chaturthi and Holi. Food festivals are also common in the city.
