Vetnai, situated in the Ganjam district of Orissa, is a small village and a beautiful tourist destination. It is an excellent place for nature and wildlife lovers. The mountain slopes of Eastern Ghats are crowded with numerous Black Bucks, wandering freely, renders an exotic beauty to the place. Around 1600 Black Bucks are the inhabitants of this region. The landscape around the sanctuary is adorned with bluish mounds.
The major tourist attractions in Vetnai include watching the Black Bucks roaming and playing in the vast grasslands and open valleys. Monglajori Bird Sanctuary is situated nearby which houses some rare and magnificent varieties of birds and butterflies. Population of this sanctuary include Whistling-duck, Purple Swamphen, Asian Openbill, Cotton Pygmy-goose, Grey-headed Lapwing and other local as well as migratory birds. Chilka Lake, known for its serenity and stunning dolphins, is also easily accessible from Vetnai. The place is also famous for Chana Poda, a delicious Oriya sweet prepared from baked yogurt.
Vetnai can be easily reached through bus or rail services. Accommodation facilities for the tourists visiting Vetnai are provided in Berhampore or Balugaon. The best time for visiting the place is winter.
