Bailadila mountain range is globally renowned for being an abundant source of iron ore deposits and boasts of an aggregate of 14 reserves of iron ore. Out of these 14 reserves, three deposits of iron ore are functional currently. Since the summit of these mountains resemble the hump of an ox at several places, these Indian mountains are popularly referred to as the 'Baila Dila', which implies the hump of an ox, according to the regional dialect.
The industrial region of Baila Dila consists of two towns, which are known as Kirandul which is located at a distance of about 41 from Dantewada and Bacheli which is situated about 29 kms away from Dantewada. Aakash Nagar is the highest peak of the mountain range of Baila Dila which contains the deposits of Iron Ore. However, one needs to seek a formal permission from the National Mineral Development Corporation or NMDC prior to making any visits to Aakash Nagar. A serpentine road called Ghat Road, which measures about 22 kilometres, connects Aakash Nagar to Bacheli. Visitors will be treated to the bird's eye view of the iron ore reserves during this journey.
Lush green forests and spectacular landscapes greet visitors as they enter into Aakash Nagar. Tourists can also approach Kailash Nagar, which forms another important peak of Baila Dila with the aide of the Ghat Road. Kailash Nagar also offers breathtaking natural views, just like Kailash Nagar.
This place possesses unique deposits of 'blue dust' or deposits of iron ore which are blue in colour. Private taxis and buses are the easily available modes of transport which can be hired from Dantewada and takes onto both Kirandul and Bacheli.
