The form of Vighna Ganapati is considered to the creator of obstructions for the demons and the remover of obstacles and difficulties for His worshippers. This is the ninth form among the thirty-two forms of Lord Ganesha. Vighna Ganapati is depicted in golden-yellow complexion and is adorned with several ornaments. In this form, Lord Ganesha has eight arms. He holds various divine objects in His hands, such as, a conch shell or Shankha, a discus or Chakra, a sugarcane bow, an elephant goad and a noose, a sprig of flowers, a battle-axe, His own broken tusk and a flower arrow.
Some of the most visited temples of Lord Vighna Ganapati include the Thirukurungudi Temple in Tirunelveliand the Ganapati temples in Chamarajanagar and Nanjangud in Karnataka. Praying and meditating on the Vighna Ganapati form helps a devotee to overcome all obstacles and removes evil influences. It is believed that when a person worships this form of Ganesha regularly, he blessed with prosperity.
This form of Lord Ganesha is venerated by the Vigna Ganapati Mantra. The devotional hymn is recited as follows-
Shankheshu Chaapa Kusumeshu Kuthara
Pashachakra Swadanta Sruni Manjarikaa Sharaduhai
Paanishritaih Parisameehita Bhhoshana Shrih
Vighneshvaro Vijayato Tapaneeya Gaur.
