Begum Pur is a census town situated in the North West district in the state of Delhi in India. As boundaries, the district has the Yamuna Riveron the northeast, the North Delhi district to the east and southeast, the West Delhi district to the south, the Jhajjar District of the state of Haryana to the west, the Sonipat District of Haryana to the northwest and north, and the Ghaziabad District of the state of Uttar Pradesh to the northeast. The North West district spreads over an area of 440 sq kilometres.
As per the 2001 census, the district has a total population of 2,847,395. The population density is 6,472 persons per sq km. The district has three subdivisions, namely Saraswati Vihar, Narela, and Model Town. The 2001 India census figures also reveal the town of Begum Pur to have a population of 22,828. This figure is inclusive of 55% males, 45% females and 19% children beneath six years. The average literacy rate of 64% is more than the nationwide standard of 59.5%. Out of the males 63% and out of the females 37% are literate.
