5th Khanda of Chapter Three

5th Khanda of Chapter Three of the Chandogya Upanishad states about the honey doctrine or the madhu vidhya.

Chandogya Upanishad is one of the oldest Upanishads written on the Vedic Brahmana period about ninth to eighth century BC. Chandogya Upanishad is associated with Sama Veda. It is the part of Chandogya Brahaman that contains ten chapters. The 5th Khanda of Chapter Three of the Chandogya Upanishad states about the honey doctrine or the madhu vidhya. Here the upward rays of the sun are verily the upper honey cells: there the secret ordinances of the Upanishads are the honey makers or the bees; Brahman is the flower, and its fluids or the waters are nectars. The secret ordinances of the bees reflected on Brahma. From it, the reflected, issued towards fame, splendour, radiance of the body, sensations power, aliment, vigour of the senses, virility and the food that is eaten. This essence flowed forward and went toward the sun. That forms what is seems as the delusive opalescence in the centre of the sun. The different rays of the sun are the essences of essences; the Vedas are the essences, and thereof the colours are again the essences. They are the nectars of nectars: the Vedas are nectars, and thereof the colours in the sun are they the nectars.
