Chandogya Upanishad is one of the oldest Upanishad written on the Vedic Brahmana period about ninth to eighth century BC. Chandogya Upanishad is associated with Sama Veda. It is ranked ninth in the Muktika canon of hundred and eight Upanishadas. The 5th Khanda of Chapter Seven of Chandogya Upanishad states about the consideration as Brahman. Narada approached Sanatkumara to know about the real Self or the Supreme Brahman. Narada wished to know what was greater than will to which Sanatkumara replied that the consideration (chitta) is greater than will. When a man considers, then only he wills, then he thinks with his mind, then he utters speech, next he utters speech in the recitation of a name. All the sacred hymns are incorporated in a name and all sacrifices are integrated in sacred hymns. The aim of all beginnings is consideration and they all end in sacrifice. They arise from consideration and abide in it. Thus, even if a man is a highly knowledgeable but is without consideration, he is regarded as useless. However, if a person possesses less knowledge and is considerate, people are eager to listen to him and his thoughts. Consideration, is therefore the self; the support. One must meditate on consideration as Brahman. Through this he would become permanent and strong. He would attain the world that is permanent and becomes free and reach as far as consideration reaches.
