5th Khanda of Chapter Four
th Khanda of Chapter Four of Chandogya Upanishad states about the instruction by the Bull to Satyakama.
Chandogya Upanishad is one of the oldest Upanishads written on the Vedic Brahmana period about ninth to eighth century BC. Chandogya Upanishad is associated with Sama Veda. It is the part of Chandogya Brahaman that contains ten chapters. The 5th Khanda of Chapter Four of Chandogya Upanishad states about the instruction by the Bull. The bull of the herd addressed Satyakama and told him that they have become a thousand and asked him to take them to a teacher`s house. They then told him that they would declare to him about one foot of Brahman. They instructed him that the east is one quarter, the west is one quarter, the south is one quarter the north is one quarter. This is foot of Brahman, consisting of four quarters. This foot is known as Prakasavat (shining). One who is aware of this and realises it as well as meditates upon one foot of the consisting four quarters as shining, becomes shining on this earth. He becomes the conqueror of the shining world.
