Caminata Iyer wrote a detailed biography of his mentor Mmatcicuntaram Pillai
. The work is unique in the genre of biographies in Tamil. He also constructed short biographies about other savants as well. The author had written many essays too, which include Ninaivu Mancari, Nalluraik Kovai, Palaiyatum Putiyatum and Nan Kantatum Kettatum. The biographies, critical essays and other analytical notes of Caminata Iyer contributed to great extent for the development of Tamil prose during this century. The well known poet Caminata Iyer from Tamil Nadu could not establish himself as one of the greatest Tamil poets, although he was excellent at composing hymns and verses.
