He is popular for his style and form of dance, and is known for his contribution to Kathak dance form. She received Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2003 from A. P. J. Abdul Kalam (former president of India). Gangani is the disciple of Pt Kundanlal Gangani who trained him in the art of Kathak dance since the early age of four. He comes from the famous Jaipur gharana and is an outstanding performer himself.

Life of Rajendra Gangani
Pt. Rajendra, with his immense dedication and love for the art has absorbed the most difficult `Bols` of Kathak. He has mesmerised audiences under the spell of his art for hours together. He has enriched himself with the essence of this style of dance together with integrating the purity of tradition with the creativeness of a contemporary approach.

In the year 1983, Pt. Rajendra completed his graduation from the Kathak Kendra, Delhi. Since the time he has completed his education, he had made essential contributions in the field of dance. Though he sticks closely to the Lucknow gharana, but he does not shy away from experimentation.
