Krauncha Dwipa like all the other seven continents of the universe has seven Boundary Mountains in each of the seven varsas. The mountains present in the island were picturesque and were resorted by the Gandharvas and the celestials. The names of the mountains that were present in Krauncha-dwipa were Krauncha, Vamana, Andhakaraka, Devavrita, Pundarikavan, Dundhuvi, and Mahasaila. Each of these mountains were twice in size to that of the preceding mountains just as each of the islands is twice in size to that of the preceding islands. In the seven mountains people dwell happily and without any fear along with the celestials.
Vishnu Purana narrates that in Krauncha Dwipa there are four castes. They are Pushkara, Pushkala, Dhanya and Tishpa. All these four castes correspond to the Brahmanas, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudras respectively. The seven rivers that are found in Krauncha-dwipa are Gauri, Kumudvati, Sandhya, Ratri, Manojava, Kshanti and Pundarika. It is believed that people who consume the water of these rivers are freed from all sins.
In Krauncha Dwipa the four castes of people worship Janardana in the form of Rudra with various sacrifices. The Purana also states that Krauncha Dwipa is encircled by a sea of curds which is similar in dimension to that of the island and the sea of curds in turn is encircled by the Saka-dwipa which is twice in size to that of the Krauncha Dwipa.
