Agni says that if favourable planetary positions are considered while implementing important events of life it would bring about prosperity in life. For instance if marriage between couples takes place when the planetary positions of both are favourable then it is certain that such a kind of marriage would bring about prosperity and happiness.
To illustrate, it has been stated that a marriage ceremony should never take place in the months of Poush and Chaitra or on the days of the lunar month known as Rikta nor on the days when God Hari would be enjoying his yearly sleep. The Puran has also prohibited the occurrence of marriage ceremony on Tuesdays, Saturdays or on the night of the new moon. Agni Purana says that marriage ceremonies should be celebrated under the auspicious influence of the asterism such as Rohini Nakshatra, the Uttaras, the Mula Nakshatra, the Hasta Nakshatra, the Revati Nakshatra, and when the sun is in the zodiacal signs of Libra or Gemini.
Lord Agni in the Purana has described many of the auspicious ceremonies in the life of a human being. He has said that the first-eating of a child should also be carefully carried out following the favourable planetary positions. It should be carried out on a Friday or on a Thursday. He says that any debt should be cleared off on Wednesdays and Fridays.
All events in life according to the Fire-God should be carried out following the astrological positions. Even new fruits and new rice should first be eaten on days when the moon is either in the Ashwini Nakshatra, Revati Nakshatra, Pushya Nakshatra, Hasta Nakshatra, Yasthya Nakshatra, Rohini Nakshatra or Shravana Nakshatra. Medicine should be first administered to an individual on Mondays or when the moon enters the asterism of Swati Nakshatra.
Agni Purana has narrated several incidents of life which should be given special attention and should be performed only after making a proper calculation of the position of the moon and the other planets. For instance the lord says that ceremonies like first shaving of a child`s hair, the rite of Karnavedha, putting on a new cloth, wearing of gems and ornaments, purchasing of new goods, meeting an employer or a master, depositing of money, entering a new house, excavating a tank or construction of a new place, making of hays, fixing of journey dates, performing of any kind of religious ceremonies all these should be performed on favourable days and months. At the same time it has been mentioned that the periods of solar and lunar eclipses should be given due importance.
Agni narrates that loss by conflagration, fear, diseases, loss of money and oppression by a sovereign are the inevitable consequences of the malignant planetary conjunctions and all these comes about when the favourable planetary positions are not considered. At the same time it has been said that if any loss comes about due to unfavourable planetary position then that loss can only be made good by performing a Homa ceremony with the Gayatri Mantra, or by making a gift of a cow with the five sorts of seed grain and clarified butter or a quantity of Sessamum Orientale to a Brahmin.
