On January 7, 2000, Shahrukh Khan along with his old friend Juhi Chawla and Aziz Mirza launched a new film Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani under their newly founded production banner Dreamz Unlimited. The film could not reach the heights of success as it lost the competition against Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai starring debutant Hrithik Roshan and Amisha Patel. Shahrukh Khan after this huge loss, started with another film Asoka in 2001 along with Juhi Chawla. But due to its historical background and excess of intellectual content, the film could not touch the audience's heart in the theatres.
Shahrukh then took a break from production and concentrated completely on his acting career. In 2003 Shahrukh again renovated his Dreamz Unlimited banner with Aziz and Juhi to launch his next film Chalte Chalte starring Shahrukh himself and Rani Mukerjee who was replaced by Aishwarya Rai. The film was an average success at the box office. In 2004, choreographer Farah Khan who was a good friend of Shahrukh came forward with an offer to direct a film with him. Shahrukh then conjured up and created Red Chillies Entertainment along with his wife Gauri Khan, who was the producer of their first film Main Hoon Na. This film became a huge success at box office. In 2005 Red Chillies produced Paheli, which was not commercially successful in the country but received worldwide acclamation for the concept and direction. In 2007 their most expected project Om Shanti Om was launched on November 9. This film did very well in cinemas, both in India and abroad. This film is the highest-grossing film by Red Chillies Entertainment till date. Apart from these the VFX team has been involved with other movies like My Name Is Khan, Chak De India, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Drona, Dostana, and Kurbaan. It also won huge accolades for its special effects in Don- The Chase Begins Again.
The company also has a TVC division that sponsor's big brands like Pepsi, Nokia, Hyundai, ITC & Emami and many more. The production house has also ventured into the small screen with shows like Ishaan, Tere mere Beach mein, Ghar Ki Baat Hai, First Ladies with Abu Sandeep, and telefilm like Like I love you and Love ho jaane de In 2008 the Red Chillies introduced and took hold of Kolkata Knight Riders Cricket franchise in BCCI new venture Indian Premier League.
