Uparichara was a Vasu, who became the king of Chedi, by the command of Indra.

Uparichara was a Vasu, who became the king of Chedi, by the command of Indra. He was the father of five sons and his eldest son, Vrihadartha was the King of Magadha. Uparichara also had an Apsaras by another wife and the Apsaras was manifested to the form of a fish. Apart from that, Uparichara also has a son named Matsya and a daughter named Satyavati or Kali and his daughter was the mother of Vyasa.
