Chandogya Upanishad is one of the oldest Upanishads written on the Vedic Brahmana period about ninth to eighth century BC. Chandogya Upanishad is associated with Sama Veda. It is the part of Chandogya Brahaman that contains eight chapters. The 22nd Khanda of Chapter Five of Chandogya Upanishad states about the Samana. The fourth oblation that the eater presents must be offered by reciting the mantras in the name of Samana. Then the Samana is satisfied. Once the Samana is satisfied, the mind is satisfied. The mind being satisfied, the rain god is satisfied, the rain god being satisfied, the lightning is satisfied. The lightning being satisfied, everything under the lightning and under the rain god is satisfied. Once all these are satisfied, the eater is satisfied with offspring, cattle, food, and brightness of the body and the light of Brahman.
