Chandogya Upanishad is the part of Chandogya Brahaman and is associated with Sama Veda. It is ranked ninth in the Muktika canon of hundred and eight Upanishadas. The Chandogya Upanishad depicts the importance and greatness of universal holy syllable `Om Mantra` The 1st Khanda of Chapter Second of Chandogya Upanishad states about the meditation on the fivefold Saman. It states that the meditation and the adoration on the whole of the Saman is good. It is said that whatever is good, is Saman; and whatever is not good, it is not Saman. It is thus, said that he approached him with Saman. It means he approached the king in a becoming manner. Again if it is said that he approached the king without Saman it means he approached him in an unbecoming manner. When it is said that the Saman for all it means it is good for all and if it is said that the Saman is not for all it means that it is not good for all. One who knows this and meditates on the Saman is endowed with several good qualities.
