Chandogya Upanishad is one of the oldest Upanishad written on the Vedic Brahmana period about ninth to eighth century B.C. Chandogya Upanishad is associated with Sama Veda. It is ranked ninth in the Muktika canon of hundred and eight Upanishadas. The 19th Khanda of Chapter Seven of Chandogya Upanishad states that reflection depends upon faith. Narada came to Sanatkumara to gain knowledge about the real Self or the Supreme Brahman. Sanatkumara considering him to be a devoted pupil instructed him about the real truth. Sanatkumara told him that when one has faith he is zealous and is able to reflect. One who does not have faith cannot be zealous and hence does not reflect. One must thus, desire to understand faith. On hearing this Narada also expressed his desire to understand this faith.
