Chandogya Upanishad is one of the oldest Upanishads written on the Vedic Brahmana period about ninth to eighth century BC. Chandogya Upanishad is associated with Sama Veda. It is the part of Chandogya Brahaman that contains ten chapters. The 19th Khanda of Chapter Five of Chandogya Upanishad states about the Performance of the Agnihotra in Oneself (The Prana). The food that is brought is offered as the first oblation. The first oblation that the eater presents must be offered by reciting the mantras in the name of Prana. Then the Prana is satisfied. Once the Prana is satisfied the vision is also satisfied. The Prana being satisfied, the eye is satisfied. The eye being satisfied, the sun is satisfied. The sun being satisfied, heaven is satisfied. Heaven being satisfied, whatever is under heaven and under the sun is satisfied. They being satisfied, he (i.e. the eater or sacrificer) is satisfied with offspring, cattle, food, brightness of the body and the light of Brahman.
