Apart from acting, he has also ventured the fields of film production and playback singing. In the year 2010 he was declared as one of the highest paid actors of Bollywood. Abhishek Bachchan is actively involved in the administrative and serviceable operations of Amitabh Bachchan`s AB Corp. Ltd.

Early Life of Abhishek Bachchan
Abhishek Bachchan was born on February 5th 1976 in Mumbai. He is the son of legendary stars Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan and the grandson of Harivanshrai Bachchan, the great poet of Hindi literature. He has an elder sister, Shweta Bachchan Nanda. Abhishek Bachchan did his schooling from Jamnabai Narsee School, Bombay Scottish School, Mumbai and Modern School, New Delhi. He has completed his high school from Aiglon College in Switzerland. After that he went to the United States for pursuing higher educational degree at Boston University. But he left his studies halfway in order to establish his acting career in Bollywood.

In the year 2000, Abhishek Bachchan debuted with the movie Refugee. It was directed by renowned director J.P. Dutta. This movie also starred debutant Kareena Kapoor. In the following four years, Junior Bachchan did many more films but he could not get much success. After delivering a number of consistent flops, Abhishek Bachchan rose to fame in the year 2004 with movies like Yuva and Dhoom. His performance in Yuva was highly praised by the critics. He also received his first Filmfare Award and several other awards in the category of best supporting actor for this movie. Since then, Abhishek Bachchan starred in many more films and eventually established himself as a successful star of the Hindi film industry.

In the year 2005 Abhishek Bachchan delivered several hits like Bunty Aur Babli, Dus, Sarkar and Bluffmaster. For his spectacular performance in Sarkar, he won his second Filmfare Award as the Best Supporting Actor. In 2006, he played a supporting yet important role in the movie Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, directed by Karan Johar. His other two films of the same year were Umrao Jaan and Dhoom 2. His movies of the year 2007 were Guru, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag and Laaga Chunari me Daag. In the multi-starrer movie, Shootout at Lokhandawala, he made a short appearance. In 2008, Abhishek Bachchan starred in Sarkar Raj (sequel of Sarkar), Drona, Dostana and Mission Istanbul. For the movie Sarkar Raj, he again got the Filmfare nomination for Best Supporting actor. His movie Dostana did very good business at the box office and he also won the IIFA Best Comedian Award for his performance. In the year 2009, his movie Delhi-6 released. In the same year, Bachchan produced the Hindi film Paa for AB Corp. Ltd. The film is based on a rare genetic condition known as `progeria` and places emphasis on a father-son relationship. Abhishek played the father of Amitabh Bachchan. Vidya Balan played the role Abhishek`s wife. The film received positive reviews and won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.

In 2010, he starred as the villain in Mani Ratnam`s Raavan, alongside his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. In the same year, he appeared in Ashutosh Gowariker`s Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey. In April 2011, Abhishek starred in the action film Game directed by Abhinay Deo. Later in that month, he played the lead in Dum Maaro Dum, which opened to mostly positive reviews from critics. In the following years his movies include Players, Bol Bachchan, Dhoom 3 and others.

He is the brand ambassador for companies like Idea mobiles, Ford fiesta, Motorola mobiles, Videocon DTH, American Express credit cards and LG Home appliances. In 2009 he was declared as the winner of Best Brand Ambassador of the Year Award at the NDTV Techlife Awards.

Abhishek Bachchan, in the year 2005, participated in Mani Ratnam`s stage show Netru, Indru, Naalai. The event was organized to raise funds for a voluntary organisation which rehabilitates homeless women with mental illness in Chennai known as `The Banyan`. In 2008 he was a part of the show `Unforgettable World Tour` along with other actors like Madhuri Dixit, Riteish Deshmukh and Preity Zinta. He promoted drug abuse awareness in 2011 as a part of citizen education campaign. Abhishek Bachchan is also accredited with the launch of the Awareness Day race, a celebration of silver jubilee of the country`s Narcotics Control Bureau.

In 2006 he was honoured with Yash Bharati Samman, the highest state award of UP, by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

Personal Life of Abhishek Bachchan
Abhishek Bachchan married Aishwarya Rai, Bollywood actress and former Miss World, on 20th April 2007. The couple is blessed with a daughter named Aaradhya, who was born on 16 November 2011.
