18th Khanda of Chapter Five, Chandogya UpanishadChandogya Upanishad, one of the oldest Upanishad has been written during the Vedic Brahmana period. Chandogya Upanishad is associated with Sama Veda. It is ranked ninth in the Muktika canon of hundred and eight Upanishadas. Chandogya Upanishad is the part of Chandogya Brahaman that contains ten chapters. The 18th Khanda of Chapter Five of Chandogya Upanishad states about the Vaisvanara Self as the whole. Aswapati addressing all said that they consume food knowing the Universal soul to be many knowing the Universal soul to be many; but he, who adores that Universal Soul which pervades the heaven and the earth, and is identical with the self, consumes food everywhere and in all regions, in every form and in every faculty. Of this Vaisvanara Self the head is Sutejas (the Good Light), the eye Visvarupa (the Universal Form), the prana Prithagvartma (of various courses), the trunk Bahula (full), the bladder Rayi (wealth), the feet Prithivi (the earth), the chest the Vedi (altar), the hair the kusa grass on the altar, the heart the Garhapatya Fire, the mind the Anvaharya Fire and the mouth the Ahavaniya Fire.
