16th Khanda of Chapter Six, Chandogya UpanishadChandogya Upanishad, one of the oldest Upanishad has been written during the Vedic Brahmana period. Chandogya Upanishad is associated with Sama Veda. Chandogya Upanishad is the part of Chandogya Brahaman that contains ten chapters. The 16th Khanda of Chapter Six of Chandogya Upanishad states about the liberation for the knower of Brahman. Uddalaka, the son of Aruna explained to his son Svetaketu, the grandson of Aruna that when a police brings a man who has been seized by the hand, he is asked to confess his fault. He is then given a heated to axe to hold. If he had actually stolen something or has committed some mistake and yet denies it then he makes himself a liar and envelops his soul with untruth. As he grasps the heated blade his hands burn and he is thus, punished. However, if he has not committed the sin or has not stolen anything he becomes truthful and thus covers himself with truth, grasps the heated axe and is not burnt. He is thus, liberates. As the truthful man is not burnt so also one who is aware of the Sat is not born again. Thus, that Sat exists within all and is the ultimate truth. It is immortal and is the real Self.
